Remember the first time you visited the cinema to see a movie? The plush seats, the smell of melting, butter popcorn, the hushed voices. Do you.. remember how the feeling of excitement, which began somewhere inside you, grew as the lights turned down and the music played? That excitement spread like a wave, through the crowd as everyone quietened and prepared to watch the latest ‘flick’.

Few things can beat the thrill of anticipation as you settle in to watch a new movie for the first time and it can be even more satisfying when you are doing that in your own home with friends and loved ones. The surging popularity of home theatre systems and the rise of technology have allowed us to recreate those wonderful early movie experiences in the comfort of our own homes.

Why are you here?
If you are here at hd projector, it’s for one of two reasons:

  • you’re a bot, in which case you wont be excited about anything, particularly the movies… or
  • you are a human and you are excited by the idea of getting hold of one of those brand new HD projectors!

Whether you are thinking about setting up your first home cinema system then you’ll find a selection of great projectors on our buy HD projectors page to help you begin to make your choice! You’ll want to think about certain things before you buy. Like how much room you have to project, what screen to get, full HD or a lesser standard. Below are some of the issues to think about before you make your purchase.

SD vs. HD
SD or ‘standard definition’ is and refers to what we have all been watching on our tv’s and video players for years – the normal box-like picture (a 4:3 aspect ratio, that is 4 units wide to 3 units high) broadcast either in NTSC, PAL or SECAM formats.

HD or ‘high definition’ is much higher quality picture usually seen in a 16:9 aspect ratio with more lines, brighter and more vivid colors and sharper images. As you read this page and you make your mind up to buy a projector then you have to buy HD for the highest quality rather than SD which really is on its way out.

True HD/Full HD/Ultra HD
You will see any of these labels on devices that have the 1080p specification. If it hasn’t got one of these labels then it probably isn’t 1080p. Just be careful to check the specs when you purchase.

Is it worth buying an hd projector?
Yes of course it is. There is nothing better than viewing your movies and sports at home and seeing this incredible amount of detail right before your eyes. What looked fantastic on 35mm film at the cinema still looks great even better on an HD screen an all in the comfort of your own home. What could be better than that?

What’s next?
Is the future high definition? Yes, it’s been here for a while and its here to stay and it will be some years yet before we have to give it up for all those 3D holographic stuff that is bound to come. More and more broadcasting will be in HD in the near future. Virtual reality is still a long way off. HD is here now so enjoy it.
